They say it’s the journey, not the destination (but can we agree that coffee makes both of them better?). We’re wrapping up the final installment of our data crunching looking at the one day of the month that requires a good GPS, a good playlist, and a healthy sense of humor. Welcome to our travel day analysis.
Any drives over 8 hours we try to break up into two days. We aim to follow the 4-4-4 rule whenever we can: Never more than 400 miles per day, arrive by 4 PM, and stay at least 4 days. In general, we’re doing pretty good meeting that goal.
Average miles per trip: 266.13
Average hours per day: 4.34
Miles traveled per year:
| Year | Mileage |
|---|---|
| 2020 | 947 |
| 2021 | 5,433 |
| 2022 | 6,573 |
| 2023 | 5,676 |
Move Days: We try to move on Sundays, since that gives us Saturday for last minute touristing and time to prep the RV to move. If we’re taking the RV to a dog show or want to avoid traveling on a holiday weekend, that usually involves a move during the week.
