Alice’s inaugural trip came sooner than expected. We took a rushed trip to Jacksonville, FL for a family member in hospice and ended up working remotely in the RV for six weeks as we stuck around to assist with funeral arrangements and spend time with family. Several things occurred: we were able to work outside the office for an extended period of time, we survived the mathematical problem of one bathroom and two bladders, and we were still speaking to each other after six weeks of marital closeness. So. Much. Closeness.
At various points during the stay, we each remarked that we could full time in the RV. During the long drive back to Delaware, including a healthy dose of Washington, DC traffic, we began to strategize what life on the road would look like – how often we would move between locations, could we really sell the house that we custom built and adored, and the limitations of the gas RV for full time life.
Once back in the house, we had a few weeks of second thoughts but the dream of traveling stuck with us. A few more discussions and a few bottles of wine over meals and the decision has been made – we’re going to be full timers!
